Nextgen Refs offers a comprehensive suite of programs designed to attract, train, equip, and support young officials (ages 14-25) throughout their development journey in New Hampshire.
Recruitment Strategy
We actively recruit teenagers and young adults through various channels:
- School Partnerships: Presentations and info sessions at high schools.
- Youth League Collaboration: Working directly with local youth sports organizations.
- Community Outreach: Participating in local events and using online platforms.
- Referral Program: Encouraging peer recruitment among current officials.
- Highlighting Benefits: Emphasizing earning potential, skill development, and comprehensive support.
Education and Training
Our structured educational curriculum focuses on developing well-rounded officials:
- Partnership Model: We partner with established referee education programs and state bodies (like NHIAA-affiliated boards) to ensure recognized standards.
- Curriculum Focus: Training covers rules, game management, mechanics, conflict resolution, communication, and professionalism.
- Training Methodology: Blended approach including classroom (virtual/in-person), practical sessions, and observation.
- Mentorship Integration: Pairing new recruits with experienced officials for ongoing guidance.
- Funding: We cover the costs associated with partner training programs for our recruits.
Equipment and Fee Support
We remove financial barriers for young officials:
- Equipment: New officials receive a basic starter kit for their chosen sport(s).
- Fee Payment: We cover required registration fees for relevant state and local officiating associations.
Officiating Progression Pathway
We facilitate a structured advancement path:
- Foundation Level: Initial training focused on local youth league games.
- Mentorship and Evaluation: Ongoing support and feedback to refine skills.
- High School Advancement: Support for transitioning to officiating NHIAA high school games.
- Collegiate Potential: Guidance and connections for exploring collegiate officiating opportunities.
